    auteur : Jean VALETTE

[MG] Andriamatoa Jean VALETTE dia mampiseo ireo hevitra samy hafa toa mifandaka " momba ny fiandohan’ny Malagasy " ary miezaka hanazava ireo izay " indraindray maizimaizina ". Ny iray amin’ny hevitra tranainy indrindra dia ny an’ilay mpijirika tsy fantatra anarana izay tokony ho tamin’ny taona 1750. Tsapany ny maha-samy hafa ny foko nonina teto . Manaraka izany heviny izany SONNERAT tamin’ny taona-jato faha XVIII. ALFRED GRANDIDIER no voalohany indrindra mandinika araky ny fomba siantifika ny momba fiavin’ny malagasy ao amin’ny Ethnographie de Madagascar. Na dia voaporofo aza fa misy tsy marina ny zavatra nambarany toy ny fahatongavan’ny "Indo-Mélanésiens " dia voninahitra tsy azo alana aminy ny nampibaribariany voalohany indrindra ny maha ray tanteraka ny fiteny eto izany nambarany fa efa ela ihany no tonga ny mponina . Nekeny Julien ny fisian’ny " Malayo-polyneziana " nefa nolazainy fa talohan’ireo no nahatongavan’ny Afrikana . Ny R.P. Malzac kosa dia nanome fanazavana momba ny tantara merina sy ny fiavin’io foko io . Tsy fantatra izay tany nifangaroan’ny Afrikana sy Indoneziana sy ny fotoana nanombohan’izany . Koa ny hevitra natolotr’Andriamatoa DESCHAMPS ankehitriny momba ny fahatongavan’ny mponina teto no toa azo inoana indrindra.

[ENG] Jean VALETTE sets forth some of the " numerous and divergent theories put forward on the origin of the Malagasy and strives to clarify what has often been obscured " . Among themost ancient opinions appears that of the etchnic differences among the same classifications as the unknown trader : ALFRED GRANDIDIER was the first to study in a really scientific way the problem of the origin of the Malagasyin his Ethnographie de Madagascar. Even though hie edeas about the coming of the "Indo-Melanesians " and the other waves of immigrants must be reconsidered , he will retain the hanour of having. Before anyone else , brougth out the deep unityof the language and customs, and assumed a certain antiquity in the population . JULIEN accepted the Malay -Polinesian element, but according to him, it was preceded by an African immigration. For his part, Father MALZAC added precise details of the later history of the Merina rather than of the origins of this cultural group. It is in fact possible to give a different interpretation of the subject-matter of the Tantara ( traditional history collected by CALLET ) . The combination of the regions about which we are still in the dark . So, at the present time , it is DESCHAMPS ’ hypotheses that offert the most likely picture of the ancient migrations .
