  [ EN ] The tsimihety presence in the region of Maroantsetra shows that the expansion of this ethnic group was not only directed towards the west. Morever the so called presence arouses a number of questions among which are the causes of the presence, the problems of cohabitation between the Tavaratra and the Tsimihety and the affinities of the region.
  Because of the Tsimihety presence the author was led to successively deal with its history and its present situation in the first place ; then with the tsimihety origins in order to underline the deep relationships between this ethnic group with the Eastern populations between Fenerive, the Masoala Cape and the first Western escarpement ; thirdly, with the mobility of that ethnic group so as to show to what extent that may account for ethnic group’s presence there, and lastly with the part played by the “Seuil of Androna” in the past and the present migrations, in order to emphasize its importance in the tsimihety mobility and the continuous evolutions which concerned the populations of the bordering regions.
  This study is not meant to strike a hurried balance of results nor of research in progress, but it aims at answering even partly, some questions which may serve as field of research and study and to provide indications for methods of work.
