  [FRS] Le roman écrit par de Jean - Claude Mouyon intitulé Beko ou La nuit de Grand Homme est une œuvre ethnologique dans la mesure où il relate les systèmes funéraires dans le Sud de Madagascar, c’est les funérailles du personnage principal appelé Grand Homme. Les funérailles de ce dernier sont cependant l’expression de joie et de fierté de la communauté villageoise dans le Sud de Madagascar, surtout de son clan car il faut que cette communauté accompagne avec joie l’âme du trépassé à entrer dans le monde des ancêtres, à l’Est. Tout cela est l’objectif de cette communication qui est évoquée dans ce roman. Dans ce roman, pourquoi les funérailles sont –elles une forme de l’expression identitaire dans ces régions ? Et les funérailles, des évènements douloureux, pourquoi les gens y trouvent-ils encore une expression de joie ? Nous allons procéder la méthode sociocritique pour mieux expliquer ces problématiques. Les résultats attendus dans cette communication sont de faire connaitre à tout le monde l’importance des funérailles dans la construction identitaire dans les régions du Sud de Madagascar. Et ces funérailles sont une expression de joie et un grand festin par la consommation de viande de zébus, du riz et des boissons ; elles se déroulent durant plusieurs jours sous l’ombre du tamarinier, un arbre sacré jusqu’à l’enterrement de Grand Homme.

  [ENG] The novel written by Jean - Claude Mouyon entitled Beko ou La nuit de Grand Homme is an ethnological work insofar as it relates the funeral systems in southern Madagascar, it is the funeral of the main character called Grand Homme. The funeral of the latter is however the expression of joy and pride of the village community in the South of Madagascar, especially of his clan because this community must accompany with joy the soul of the deceased to enter the world of the ancestors, to the East. All this is the objective of this communication which is evoked in this novel. In this novel, why are funerals a form of identity expression in these regions ? And funerals, painful events, why do people still find an expression of joy in them ? We will proceed with the socio-critical method to better explain these issues. The expected results in this communication are to make everyone aware of the importance of funerals in identity building in the southern regions of Madagascar. And this funeral is an expression of joy and a great feast by the consumption of zebu meat, rice and drinks ; they take place for several days under the shade of the tamarind tree, a sacred tree until the funeral of Grand Homme.
