  [ EN ] Ibn Mâgid, arab pilot in the Indian Ocean at the end of the endof the XVth century, wrote several books, in form of verses, on navigation and seafaring. One of those, Hâwiya, written in 1462, thus prior to the Portuguese, gives nautical informations on the malagasy coasts as well as on the Comoros islands and the Mascareignes. A translation of topic extracts is given here with comments on the possible locations. However Ibn Mâgid did not come himself on those shores and his informations are second hand : therefore confusions and uncertainties remain on some ports.
