  [ EN ] The name Menarandra – under multiple forms – designates several entities : the territory of the Maroserana Befira raza, the territories of the collateral raza of the Maroserana Befira raza like the Temitombo and the Temandeve, and sometimes the southern part of the Mahafale. Several events which took place during the second half of the 19th century and up to the 20th century, whose memory is preserved by oral traditions, French written sources, and such monuments as tombs, enable us to better outline the nature and scope of the powers of the Menarandra sovereigns and the features of the political system which they led, as well as the relationship these sovereigns entertained with their closest neighbours.
