  [ EN ] The writer states that the researchers who visited the Seychelles during the 19th century can be divided in 3 categories : those who stayed but for a short period in the area and those who chose these islands as their goals and, right from their departure, aimed at leading their investigations there. He mentions what each researcher had completed and the result of their research. According to him, these researches were conducted too late because at that time, the forest which covered the islands was almost entirely burned out or cut down. However it was still possible to compare its flora and fauna to those of Eastern Africa, Madagascar and Asia.
