  [ EN ] The « Journal de Campan » may be considered as a very interesting document of the reconstitution of the social and economic history of Madagascar in the XIXth century. Thus, it allows to analyse how exchanges were carried out and to catch the difficulties interest to these activities at a time when transport vehicles and roads did not yet exist. But those did not hinder the “Roux de Fraissinet Company” which resorted to the system of carriage by “Borizano” or “Maromita” for the commerce of zebu hides and other Malagasy products while benefiting from the aid of the members of the Royal Family as associates.
  The data provided by the Journal are very original and exceptional as for their precision and could be used to reconstitute the processus of implantation of business circles and the study of their links with the political circles in favour of colonization.
