  [ EN ] The Hinya or founding clan of the cities group, in principle, are the families who claim to descend from the same ancestor through women. There are two categories of hinya : the hinya-za-mdji (city hinya) and the hinya-za-ntsi (country hinya). The former are those whose impact is often limited to the city. As for the latter, they always play a notable role at the village level as well as the regional level. The great princely families of the Comoros originate from the latter. These hinya were at the origin of the foundation of several cities of the Comoros. Today, they still constitute the real foundations of the power in the mdji. In this paper, I study the origins of the hinya, their establishment in the regions and the way they share the power in the society, all this from oral traditions data. Namely, they are matrilinear lineages who give privilege in the attribution of the social functions and roles to the seniority, of course, but also to the possession of wealth and, more particularly, filiation on the mother’s side.

Ireo hinya ireo no fototry niforonan’ny vohitra maro ao Komoro. Ankehitriny dia mbola izy no tena fototra ifaharan’ny fahefana eo anivon’ny mdji (vohitra). Ny lahatsoratra dia mandinika amin’ny alàlan’ny lovantsofina ny fiavian’ny hinya, ny faritra nanorenany faka, sy ny fomba nifampitsinjarany ny fahefana teo anivon’ny fiarahamonina. Tetiarana amin’ny tarana-behivavy no anaovana izany satria io no manome lanja ny fahefana (eo an-toerana) sy ny fananana harena ary indrindra ny firazanana isan-dreniny, eo amin’ny fitsinjarana ny asa aman’andraikitra eo anivon’ny fiarahamonina.
