  [FR] Les objectifs de cette étude ont été de déterminer la prévalence des porteurs de prothèses adjointes partielles métalliques parmi les édentés partiels de la ville d’ Antsirabe, Madagascar, et aussi d’évaluer leur niveau d’information sur ce type d’appareil. Cette étude descriptive transversale a été conduite sur 300 édentés partiels choisis au hasard. Ils ont été examinés pour savoir s’ils ont porté une prothèse partielle amovible métallique. Des questions leur ont été posées s’ils ont été informés ou non de l’existence de ce genre d’appareil. Puis, 20 dentistes de la ville ont été enquêtés s’ils ont ou non déjà réalisé un appareil de ce type et sur les raisons qui les ont empêchés de le proposer à leurs patients .Un virgule trois pour cent des édentés partiels ont été restaurés avec une prothèse adjointe partielle métallique. Sur les 300 sujets partiellement édentés, il n’y a eu que 6,3 % qui ont été informés de ce type de prothèse. D’autre part, 20 % des dentistes d’Antsirabe ont déjà réalisé ce genre d’appareil et la majorité des praticiens de cette ville en a été empêchée par le faible pouvoir d’achat de leurs patients, ou par l’inexistence de prothésistes qualifiés ou encore par la non maîtrise de la technique d’élaboration.

  [EN] The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of wearers of metal removable partial denture among partially edentulous subjects in Antsirabe, Madagascar, and also to evaluate their information about this kind of prosthesis. This cross sectional descriptive study was carried out on 300 partially edentulous subjects randomly choosen. They were examined to know whether they wore a metal removable partial prosthesis. They were also asked about their level information on this kind of appliance. Then, 20 dentists of the city were surveyed if they already produced or not a denture of this type and on the reasons which prevented them from proposing it to their patients. One point three per cent of partially edentulous persons were restored with metal removable partial denture. Among the 300 partially toothless subjects, there were only 6.3 % that were informed of this kind of prosthesis. In other hand, 20 % of Antsirabe’s dentists already carried out this kind of prosthesis and the majority of practitioners of this city was prevented by the low income of their patients, others by the inexistence of qualified dental technicians, and the non control of technical preparation.
