[ EN ] The competitivity between public schools and the missionary ones was at the origin of the flourishing education in Fianarantsoa at the beginning of the colonization. Different festivities were organized in order to entertain the people but also to instill into them ideas such as Christian belief or loyalty to France. Yet the contact between the Malagasy which resulted from this situation, the knowledge which they received at scool, the ideas which they got from the different meetings either catholic or protestant, the realization that they hadn’t the same rights as the French, had led some young people to criticize the colonial government. That was the reason why most of them became members of the Vy, Vato, Sakelika.
