  [FR] Crée en 1962, le C.E.T.A est une société d’Etat destinée à animer l’artisanat malgache et à lui communiquer une véritable impulsion. Ce rôle initial n’a été rempli que partiellement pour des raisons diverses. Par contre, le C.E.T.A. est devenu un organisme de production et de commercialisation particulièrement dynamique et, bien souvent, l’offre de ses produits est inférieure à la demande. Le C.E.T.A comporte plusieurs branches fonctionnant en auto-financement : C.E.T.A.-Bois, Lapidairerie, Tissage, Tapisserie murale, Bambou et surtout Rabane qui reste l’activité fondamentale aussi bien par le nombre de personnes intéressées que par l’importance des ventes. La mise en place des collectivités décentralisées doit faciliter l’action du C.E.T.A. en aval tandis qu’en amont, son rôle d’organisme centralisateur et de prospection des marchés doit permettre le bon écoulement des produits artisanaux.

  [EN] Born in 1962, the C.E.T.A. is a state society intended to animate and give a real impulsion to the Malagasy handcraft. Because of different reasons, this initial aim has been reached very partially ; but on the other hand, the C.E.T.A. has became a so dynamic productive and commercial organism, that most of the time, the articles put on the market are not enough. There are many sections working financially by themselves, the C.E.T.A-Wood section, the stone section, the wearing section, the wall tapestry section, the bamboo section and, above all, the metting section which is still the main activity as well as for the number of concerned people or for the importance of sales. The creation of the decentralized collectivities is supposed to make the action of the C.E.T.A. easier but as centralizer and prospecting organism, the C.E.T.A. must be able to sell the handcraft products.
