  [ EN ] Two french missionnaries, fathers Nacquart and Gondrée, lazarists, Vincent de Paul’s fellow, arrived in 1648 at Fort-Dauphin. Although they stayed very shortly, five moths for one, one year and a half for the other, with Flacourt’s aid, Nacquart learned enough malagasy to translate into this language a catholic catechism inspired by Monsieur Vincent’s and published in 1657. The study of this catechism, beyond linguistic clumsiness, reveals the influence of an islamicised vocabulary and traditional religious conceptions in the formulation of some basic Christian notions.
