  [ EN ] Ambalapaiso was well developed in the old days of colonization, especially since 1926, the time when the colonial government took many measures concerning the development of big towns all over the Island. As the consequence, the price of land in this area was always increasing. Apart from the foreigners who secured a very large area, there were a few well-off Malagasy citizens who could afford to buy parcels of land in Ambalapaiso. But there were no close-relationship or contact between these two groups of people, because the foreigners established themselves in the southern part of the area whereas the Malagasy people lived in the northern and the eastern part.
