  [ EN ] Anthropological works such as C. Lévi-Strauss’ have accustomed the scholars with a specific of the mental category of space. History of Medieval West also needs to be revisited according to this approach. Several examples are presented here : settlement of Auvergne in early middle ages, of Latium in the Xth-XIIth centuries, Merovingian regnum of Austrasia, trade routes, pilgrimages or the Vezelay basilique in order to show how can be combined daily life space (house, village, country), political space basically built on the cities, faraway space of trade and geography and at last sacred space in daily life as well as in scholarly theological constructions.
