  [ENG] The islamized immigrants who visited and settled the Malagasy coasts as from at least the and of the first millenuim of the chrictian era brougth important innovations to the Malagasy civilization as far as material culture, religious beliefs and astrology are concerned. But the most important survival is undoubtedly Arabic script which is still used ty Antaimoro of the South East of the island to write their dialect.J.Dez describes the " Arabico-Malagasy" alphabet and shows to what extent this is an independent invention.
