  [ENG] An archaeological research, carried out on the hill of Ambohijoky, in the southern Imerina, in Central Highlands Madagascar, has allowed to determine, with an intensive survey on the vestiges of artefacts and constructions, waves of human settlements on the site from the 16th to the 19th century. Moreover, through a military archaeological approach, this study has contributed to appreciate the Manisotra warriors’ advanced ingenuity and original know-how, with the digging of inextricable and numerous defensive trenches, which surround Ambohijoky village. Une recherche archéologique, menée sur le site d’Ambohijoky, un village de colline perché à 1509 m d’altitude et situé à 20 km au sud d’Antananarivo, sur les Hautes Terres Centrales de Madagascar, a permis de déterminer, grâce à l’examen des vestiges d’objets et des restes d’aménagements, une vague de réoccupations humaines, in situ, depuis le 16è jusqu’au 19è siècle. Puis, l’étude a contribué à faire apprécier aussi, à travers une lecture à la fois géographique et "poliorcétique" du paysage autour du site, l’ingéniosité poussée et le savoir-faire guerrier de ses défenseurs manisotra, avec le creusement de fossés multidirectionnels et inextricables.
