  [ENG] Many people tend to consider archaeologyasa branch of histo-rical study. However, it is necessary to define a new approachto Malagasy archaeology. Anthropology, linguis tics, ethnology,have not yet been able to establish the date of the arrivai of theProto-Malagasy, or the ma’nnerof the occupation and conquest ofthe island. Archaeologyhas to discover new information . . ;Since 1970, the Musée d’Art et d’Archéologie has instigatedresearch in various partsof Madagascar. It is impossible to state indeta il the numerousactivities of the Musée for the last 10years.Wegive someexamples :- pure archaeological research- teaching- publications- exhibitions- filmsThis year, if is hoped to initiate long-term research includingthe inventory of ail archaeological sites in the country.
