  [ EN ] The author speaks in this essay about the permanent insecurity in the Bara area of the “Madagascar Kingdom”. The southern part of the Betsileo and the sector of Lamboany are regularly plundered by highway men even if a certain number of military outposts are created to stop the razzias of the Bara princes, the Tanala or Betsileo runaways commit. The outpost of Tompoananandrariny relays inefficient, for the soldiers desert it, they don’t have enough equipment. The author couldn’t but conclude that the Merina presence is instable in the Bara area and the government of Rainilaiarivony is unable to assure the security of the Bara and the Betsileo people.
