  [FR] Cette contribution collective du Département de Civilisations pose la question de savoir devant la forte influence des grandes puissances et de la mondialisation s’il faut accepter l’avènement d’une culture mondiale ou au contraire encourager le maintien des cultures nationales. Elle tente d’y répondre d’abord en cernant le concept d’identité culturelle qui, engendre la nation par transcendance, ensuite en examinant sa formation et sa reformulation constantes ainsi que des facteurs et circonstances entraînant sa perte pour certains groupes ou individus, enfin en s’arrêtant sur le cas malgache si particulier considéré de l’intérieur ou de l’extérieur.

  [EN] This collective contribution of the Department of Civilisations raises the question as to whether considering the great powers’ strong influence as well as that of globalisation, development of a world culture should be accepted or on the contrary support to national cultures should be fostered. This contribution attempts to answer the question first by examining the concept of cultural identity which through transcendence, results in a nation, then by studying its constant formation and reformulation as well as factors and circumstances which lead to its loss for some groups and individuals ; and last, by observing the Malagasy case which is so particular whether considered from inside or outside.
