  [FRS] Cette compilation faite par un descendant de Ramaharavo entre de plain pied dans la présentation des textes de tradition orale initiée par Noël J. Gueunier : le texte est présenté tel quel dans la langue vernaculaire avec à côté une traduction qu‟on voudrait la plus fidèle possible dans la langue française en gardant l‟esprit et les mouvements originaux. Les historiens ont connaissance d‟un Rainimaharavo, mais est-ce bien celui de ce texte ? Ensuite, on y parle d‟un roi parti vers l‟ouest. Dans la mesure où c‟est un roi et non une reine, il n‟y a que deux possibilités, ou bien c‟est Radama I ou bien c‟est Radama II. Les recoupements historiques nous induisent à considérer que ce serait Radama II. Mais alors il ne serait pas mort ni enterré dans une tombe perdue des environs du Rova d‟Ilafy ? Sa disparition est d‟ailleurs entourée de mystère. Ce texte donnerait une possibilité d‟explication : sa survie dans l‟ouest du pays.

  [ENG] This compilation made by a descendant of Ramaharavo is a typical presentation of the oral tradition texts initiated by Noël J. Gueunier : the text is presented in the vernacular language with a translation on its side, which strives to be as accurate as possible in the French language, while keeping the spirit and the motions of the original text. Historians know of a Rainimaharavo, but is that the one mentioned in this text ? Moreover, the latter speaks of a king who went to the West. Insofar as it is a king and not a queen, there are only two possibilities : it is either Radama I or Radama II. The historical crosschecks induce us to believe that it might be Radama II. But then, would that mean that he did not die and was not buried in a tomb lost of the vicinity of the Rova of Ilafy ? Besides, his death is wrapped in mystery. This text would give a probable explanation about his survival in the western area of the country.
