  Résumé
  L’objectif de cette étude a été d’évaluer les procédures de traitement orthodontique dans les cabinets dentaires Malgaches. Une étude descriptive transversale a été réalisée sur un échantillon de 39 praticiens exerçant dans les régions Analamanga, Haute Matsiatra et Boeny. Cinq spécialistes et 34 omnipraticiens ont été évalués selon leur méthode de diagnostic et de traitement. Parmi les praticiens enquêtés, 69,2% établissaient systématiquement un bilan orthodontique lors de la première consultation ; 87,2% effectuaient des photographies, 79,5% des radiographies et 94,9% des moulages ainsi qu’un examen des fonctions oro-faciales avant le traitement. Au point de vue thérapeutique, 97,4% procédaient à une rééducation, en particulier celle de la posture linguale. Les appareils amovibles (82,1%) étaient beaucoup plus utilisés que les appareils fixes (76,9%). La contention était pratiquée par 74,4% des praticiens. Des efforts restent à faire pour améliorer la prise en charge orthodontique à Madagascar.

  Abstract
  The aim of this study was to evaluate the orthodontic treatment procedures in Malagasy dental offices. A cross-sectional study was carried out on a sample of 39 practitioners working in the Analamanga, Haute Matsiatra and Boeny regions. Five specialists and 34 general practitioners were assessed according to their methods of diagnosis and treatment. Among the practitioners surveyed, 69.2% systematically established an orthodontic check-up during the first consultation ; 87.2% took photographs, 79.5% x-rays and 94,9% casts as well as an examination of orofacial functions before treatment. From a therapeutic point of view, 97.4% carried out rehabilitation, especially that of lingual posture. Removable appliances (82.1%) were used much more than fixed appliances (76.9%). Retainer was practiced by 74.4% of practitioners. Efforts remain to be made to improve orthodontic care in Madagascar.
