  Résumé
  Pouvant survenir tout au long de la vie, les maladies bucco-dentaires comptent parmi les maladies non-transmissibles les plus fréquentes. Elles affectent la santé et le bien-être de millions de personnes. L’objectif de cette étude était de décrire l’état bucco-dentaire des adultes consultant le Centre de Soins et de Traitements Dentaires à l’Institut d’Odontostomatologie Tropicale de Madagascar (CSTD-IOSTM) à Mahajanga.
  Il s’agit d’une étude rétrospective descriptive portant sur les patients venus en consultation au CSTD-IOSTM durant les années 2013 à 2019. Ont été inclus tous les patients âgés de 18 ans et plus venus dans ce centre.
  Sept-cent patients ont été recrutés, avec un sex ratio de 0,76 et une moyenne d’âge de 30,50 ans. L’odontalgie était le principal motif de consultation (50%). L’indice CAOD moyen était de 8,90 ± 6,204 avec un indice C =5,19 ± 3,942, un indice A =2,79 ± 4,785 et un indice O =0,92 ± 1,950. Cinq patients présentaient un indice CAOD égal à 0, et 4 patients un DCAO égal à 32. Après passage au centre, 61,61% ont reçu des soins conservateurs et 35,71% des traitements chirurgicaux. Seuls 23,43% ont bénéficié d’un bilan parodontal dont le diagnostic dominant (73,78%) était la gingivite. Les patients ayant reçu un traitement prothétique (amovible et fixe) étaient de 6,71%.
  Cette étude démontre un besoin élevé en soins et actions préventives pour la population adulte à Mahajanga.

  Abstract
  Oral diseases can occur throughout life, and are among the most common non-communicable diseases. They affect the health and well-being of millions of people. The aim of this study was to describe the oral condition of adult consulting the Dental Care and Treatment Center at IOSTM (CSTD-IOSTM) in Mahajanga.
  This is a descriptive retrospective study on patients who came for consultation at CSTD-IOSTM during the years 2013 to 2019. All patients aged 18 and over who came to this center were included.
  Seven hundred patients were recruited, with a sex ratio 0, 76 and main age of 30, 50 years. Toothache was the main reason for consultation (50%). The mean DMFT value was 8, 90 ± 6,204 (DT=5, 19 ± 3,942, MT = 2, 79 ± 4,785 and FT = 0, 92 ± 1,950). Five person had a DMFT score of zero and 4 patients had a DMFT equal to 32. After going to the center, 61,61% received conservative care and 35,71% surgical treatment. Only 23,43% underwent periodontal assessment and treatment for which the dominant diagnosis was gingivitis (73,78%). Patients who received prosthetic treatment (removable and fixed) were 6, 71%.
  This study shows a high need for care and prevention for the adult population in Mahajanga.
