  [FR] Cet article aborde une question sensible – celle du choix de la langue d’enseignement à Madagascar – dans un contexte où on passe d’un extrême à l’autre, de la malgachisation précipitée à un retour intempestif au français. Après une argumentation en faveur de l’adoption de la langue première – une fois cette langue nationale normalisée et modernisée – en tant que medium d’instruction, l’auteur avance certaines propositions tendant à accroître l’efficacité de l’enseignement des langues, condition nécessaire à l’amélioration de la qualité de l’enseignement dans son ensemble.

  [EN] This article addresses a sensitive issue – that of the choice of the teaching language of in Madagascar – in a context where we are going from one extreme to the other, from a hastily implementation of Malagasisation to an untimely return to French. After arguing in favour of the first language as a medium of instruction – once this national language has been standardized and modernized – the author puts forward a few proposals aiming to increase the efficiency of language teaching, a necessary condition for the improvement of the quality of education in general.
